Will Men Eventually Go Bald? A Barber on the First Thinning Sign

Genetics do play a part, but “men will go bald eventually” does not mean there is nothing you can do. The first warning from the scalp is usually not a pillow full of hair, but the hair on top turning finer and softer. The earlier you start, the longer you can delay visible baldness.

In the salon, one type of male customer is very familiar: usually established in his career, serious and quiet. He sits down, says “the usual, a bit shorter please”, then stares at himself in the mirror without saying much.

But as a barber who has been in this industry for years, when my scissors comb over the top of their head, my fingers often pick up a secret they may not have noticed, or have chosen not to accept.

“Sir, the hair on top feels finer and softer than it did a few months ago when I hold it.”

Recently I had to be honest with a regular customer when I noticed the change. He frowned slightly and replied in a low voice: “Oh really. Never mind, it runs in the family. Men will go bald eventually anyway.” This is the reality for about 90% of men facing hair fall: blaming genetics and choosing to give up.

The truth about hair fall: it does not fall out suddenly, it gets “finer” first

Many people think balding happens when they wake up one morning to a pillow full of hair. It does not.

For men especially, work stress, late nights or the hormone DHT cause the hair follicle to shrink slowly. The first sign of balding is not heavy shedding, but hair strands that keep getting finer and softer. It is like a tree that was once strong: when the roots cannot get nutrients, it turns into thin, weak grass.

Once the scalp starts to look shiny and feel smooth, the follicles are probably fully closed. By then, even spending tens of thousands on a hair transplant may not work.

Why a barber cannot pretend not to see it

When a customer starts to “give up”, I usually work out a simple calculation of “time” with them.

True, we cannot change our genetics. But the difference between “taking care” and “not taking care” comes down to TIME.

If you ignore the warning your scalp is giving, by 40 the top of your head may already look noticeably thin, giving you the image of a man in his 50s. But if you step in now and improve the environment where hair grows, you can stretch the balding process past 60.

A customer’s image and appearance are part of a barber’s responsibility. That is why I have to speak up.

The simplest anti-balding routine: men hate hassle, 2 steps is enough

Serious, rational men hate juggling bottles of product. At this early stage of thinning, things do not need to be complicated: switching your shampoo at home to a professional scalp care set is enough.

In the salon, I used the professional scalp management set from Miteo for him:

Step 1: “Loosen the soil” and clean thoroughly

Miteo Energizing Boost Shampoo (MI 3) 1000ml: Men’s scalps get oily quickly, so pores are often clogged with thick sebum. This shampoo is very safe because its formula is 0% SLS, 0% Paraben and 0% EDTA. It contains Rosemary extract and Salvia leaf, which “loosen” the scalp, clear the dirt blocking the hair root, and stimulate healthy new hair growth.

Step 2: “Add fertiliser” and strengthen the root

Miteo Revival Hair Tonic (MI 25) 120ml: After showering and towel-drying, spray this tonic onto the scalp. It is packed with two high-tech ingredients, Kopexil and Apple Stem Cell, which stimulate shrunken hair roots, extend the life of scalp cells, and help fine baby hair grow thicker and denser. Most important for men: it is Silicon Free, so the scalp feels cool, fresh and not sticky at all.

The 14-day agreement: watch only 2 things

I set a “14-Day Challenge” with that customer. Hair root cycles need time, so use it consistently for 14 days and watch only these 2 things:

    1. In the shower, is less hair falling onto the floor?
    2. Feel the new baby hair growing in: is it coarser and harder than the fine hair before?

As long as the new roots grow thicker, we have already won half the war against balding.

    Final word

A man’s image is like an invisible business card. Do not wait until the top of your head is smooth before you regret it. Start today by switching to professional products that truly understand your scalp.
